Categories on Amazon are confusing, to say the least.
But understanding them and placing your book in the correct one, is essential.
The key is to find categories that are suitable for your book, but not very competitive. The problem is that the categories shown on Amazon are different from the choices on the KDP dashboard. I can show you how to have your book placed in the correct categories, or I can do it for you.
To tell what category your book is in, go to your Amazon product page, and scroll down to the section, “Look for Similar Items by Category,” where you’ll see the categories your book is listed in. You can also go to Kindle Store › Kindle eBooks and type in your book’s name and your name in the search box. Amazon will show you where it’s listed.
I think it’s essential to have your book in categories that will put you on the 1st page for customers browsing that category. I’ve been able to help authors by finding categories that increase the visibility of their book.
Email jim@jimsgotweb.com with a link to your Amazon product page and I’ll take a look and let you know what the cost will be. The average costs range from $15 to $25.
