Are you letting Amazon help you sell more of your books? The Author Page is a great way for your readers to find out more about you, including pictures, bibliography, videos, book signings, and more.
To get started, first log into your account on Author Central and go to your “Profile” page. Here you’ll have access to your biography, blog feed, upcoming events, your photos, video book trailers, and the feed from your Twitter account. The Author Page is your chance to tell readers something interesting about yourself, so make sure you include any details about your background, awards you have won, and other books you have written. You should include any personal details customers might want to know. Think about which blog posts or “tweets” you’ve written which have gotten the most interest. This is who you are; share your information with your readers.
Your author photo doesn’t need to be professionally created, but should be a high-resolution image for quality display. I suggest having a good head shot of yourself and using it on all of your social media accounts. After seeing the picture on the internet, people will eventually recognize you and instinctively trust you. You can add up to eight images, and choose the order in which they appear. I’ve added a 3-D picture of my book, (made on Fiverr) and a picture of my Dragonfly mandolin.
When you add a blog feed, you are linking to a blog you’ve created elsewhere. Whenever you update your blog, the blog teasers that appear on the Author Page on Amazon.com update automatically, within 24 hours of being posted on your blog.
“Upcoming events” is a calendar you can add to keep readers informed of your appearances and other events.
Add your Twitter account and your recent tweets will show up on your author page. This is a great way to let people know what your interests are.
You can share video interviews, book-signing videos, or book trailers with your readers. Your videos should focus on specific features of your book or your experience as an author. You can add up to eight videos and choose the order in which they appear on the Amazon.com Author Page. I had an eBook trailer made by ravsingh on Fiverr.
